The ATV Coffee Trail Cultural Tour is the perfect blend of adrenaline, nature, and culture. Drive along the Ruta del Cafe, having fun on the dirt roads driving the ATV, while discovering Las Terrenas countryside and the Dominican vibrant culture. This excursion is the complete opposite of the Saona island tour with very crowded boats impossible to enjoy the nature in symbioses. In Las Terrenas you will enjoy a ATV ride alone with your guide into the beauty of the Dominican jungle full of fruits decorated by color full flowers everywhere.

The first stop is the view point located at the top hill of the Samana peninsula with a breathtaking view explaining the different beaches of Las Terrenas from Coson beach until Bonita beach. Of course your guide won’t forget to show you the whales islands with the story behind : the humpback whales coming from the cold water migrate to the Dominican Republic in order to give birth in a convenient environment. Now let’s the adventure begin hitting the dirt road passing a small village where you will find many smiles from the local Dominican community.

Second stop at the farm, the owners will receive you in their house, a peaceful place surrounded by luxuriant vegetation. The guide will describe you all the steps to process coffee, chocolate and also how to make rubber band from the tree. At the same time they are preparing the fresh coffee on the top of the traditional Dominican oven made of wood fire that give this ancestral flavor. Wake up your taste buds trying the pure cacao combining with banana from the garden and honey produced around too. Time has come to try the magic potion of the Dominican Republic named « Mamajuana » used for medicinal purposes that can clean your kidney or help for your digestion. Those farmers have this knowledge transmitted generation by generation of how to cure sickness naturally with the plants.

After the adrenaline of riding up and down the hill on the ATV coffee trail, we will end up on a high note with a refreshing sea bath at the prettiest beach of Las Terrenas located close to a river into the mangrove forming a natural swimming pool. It’s a super safe place for bad swimmer because of shallow water where you can lay down jacuzzi type ideal for the kids to play !

Don’t worry, if you don’t speak Spanish, our local tour guide will translate everything for you.
Most of the trip is on dirt roads, it’s a lot of fun driving the ATV there, up and down, through bumps and holes. If you are not 100% comfortable driving an ATV or if speed is not your thing, don’t worry, you can either drive slow (more time to enjoy the view!) or you can ride with someone, most ATV can sit two people. Driving an ATV is pretty straightforward and even if it’s your first time you should get the hang of it pretty quickly.
Typically the tour lasts half a day but we can also plan a full-day tour, going deeper into the Samana mountains and lush jungle, exploring more remote beaches and villages on the way. On the way back, we can make a stop at El Limon Waterfall, only a 45-minute trek away from the main road.
Tell us how much time you have and what you want to see and experience and we’ll create a tour just for you!
Make sure to wear sunscreen and protective clothing (sunglasses and hat are a must). Bring water and snacks, there will be some shops on the way too if you need to buy anything. And most importantly, don’t forget to bring your camera, if you have a GoPro you can attach it to the ATV and you’ll have a perfect video of your trip to Samana’s countryside in the Dominican Republic.
